I. Introduce

 The journey to explore the cave over 2 days and 1 night gives visitors many memorable experiences.

 Ruc Mon Cave is one of the large caves located in the central area of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Cave Kingdom of Quang Binh, Vietnam. GreenLand's journey to discover Ruc Mon Cave will bring visitors an exciting night of camping inside a beautiful giant cave dating back hundreds of millions of years. 

The cave was discovered in 2017. 

The tour to explore Ruc Mon Cave is also part of the expedition tours that the famous company Greenland Travel has conducted in the Phong Nha area over the years. The Ruc Mon Cave trekking tour in Quang Binh has been highly appreciated by domestic and international tourists and is one of the most attractive adventure tours in Greenland.

FIRST DAY: Phong Nha - Hoa Son - Ruc Mon Experience Indigenous Culture and Cave Exploration  

  • From 07:30 - 08:00 Tour guide picks up guests at GreenLand Travel headquarters to prepare necessary equipment for the trip. Get information on trip schedules and safety recommendations. During the journey, you will be introduced by the guide to the history of the cave's formation and development as well as some of the traditional culture of the Chut ethnic group. 
  •  09:30 We will stop at Tang Hoa village of the Chut ethnic group, which is close to the Vietnam-Laos border area, which is strictly controlled by border guards.
  • From here, we will go to Hoa Son village, where only a few households live, and start the walking journey. 
  • 11:00 After following the small road along the river -Hoa Son-Ruc Mon to reach the mouth of Ruc Mon cave. You will be cultured and the cave overwhelmed by the beautiful and mysterious guide who picks up guests at the cave mouth.
  • Here, we will enjoy a BBQ lunch prepared by the porter team. After lunch, we will rest at the cave mouth for 15 minutes and prepare the necessary equipment. 
  • We start the journey by swimming along the water (2km), then climb to different rock layers and admire the growth of huge limestone patches formed over millions of years. Conquer the dry cave with three floors and countless layers of minerals, stalactites, etc.
  • At night, we will camp in a cave or sleep at a homestay to have interesting experiences about the local culture, enjoy the dinner that our porters have prepared, and enjoy the fresh air of nature. 

 

Second Day: Exploring the whole Ruc Mon and going through the cave (12 km) 

  • Starting a new day at 7:30-8:00, we will prepare breakfast for you. There will be a sunny side up egg, bread, or noodles of your choice. After breakfast and packing. A 3-hour journey of walking through 6 kilometers of primeval forest is waiting for you.
  • Walk through the primeval forest, which is still unspoiled with many rare and ancient trees. Reaching the cave mouth around noon, our team of professional porters, - who are locals, - are waiting to be prepared there with a delicious Vietnamese traditional BBQ lunch (with options for vegetarians).
  •  After lunch, you will rest for about 30 minutes, then check your equipment and continue the exciting journey with 350 m of climbing to reach the cave entrance on the 2nd floor and start exploring the dry cave system, Admire the stalactite block with many unique colors and shapes, stalactites, and fossil animal bones that are considered unique and have never been seen.
  • You will move by climbing up the floors by wooden ladders and going down by iron ladders for more than 60m with safety belts. When we reach the river in the cave, we will try our best with a cliff with a height of 4-6m, jump into the water, or have a wooden ladder to go down. Immerse yourself in the cool water, and swim for more than 1km. You will have the opportunity to discover more unique and different stalactites and stalagmites. End the series of cave explorations by swimming back to the mouth of the cave, enjoying the drinks and cakes we have prepared.  When traveling to discover Ruc Mon, to have the best experience, you should know some of the following:

 You are not allowed to arbitrarily visit Ruc Mon Cave; currently, the cave has been given exclusive rights by the Greenland Company. so you can join the Ruc Mon trekking tour. This exclusivity is a way to help limit overexploitation of the area and preserve the site and its inherent natural beauty. 

You should follow the guide closely to not get lost: getting to the cave is quite difficult and arduous. You have to go through a forest and climb uphill to get to the Ruc Mon Gate. Therefore, when exploring Ruc Mon, you need a guide for the most convenient trip. 

There is no exact route to the cave: Ruc Mon Cave is not available on Google Maps, and there are no directions or signs. You can only trust and follow instructors who have a lot of experience and knowledge. That's why you shouldn't explore this cave alone.
